Royal Library
The Royal Library (Det Kongelige Bibliotek) is located in Copenhagen and serves as the national library of Denmark. It is the larges and most important library in Scandinavia. The library is home to several historical treasures including all the works that have printed in Denmark since the 17th Century. The library was originally founded by King Frederik III in 1648. In 1793, the library was opened to the public and in 1989 it was merged with the prestigious University Library. Then, in 2005, the Danish National Library of Science and Medicine merged with the library to make what today is called The Royal Library, the National Library of Denmark and Copenhagen University Library.
