Rundetaarn
The Rundetaarn (round tower) is a 17th Century tower situated in Copenhagen. The tower is part of the Trinitatis complex. The complex was built to provide scholars with an astronomical observatory, a student church and a university library. Rundetaarn was built upon the request of King Christian IV. It was designed by architect Hans Steenwinckel the Younger and is one of the most well-known buildings in Copenhagen. The Rundetaarn features a unique 7.5 turn helical corridor in lieu of traditional stairs. The tope of the tower stands 34.8 meters above the street. This is where the observatory and minor planetarium is located.
