Vor Frue Kirke
The Vor Frue Kirke (Church of Our Lady) is the cathedral of Copenhagen (Kopenhaven). The church is located on Vor Frue Plads next to the University of Copenhagen. The current version of the church was designed by architect Christian Frederik Hansen. Completed in 1829, the church boasts a neo-classical style. Several historic, royal events have taken place in the Vor Frue Kirke. To name a few: The wedding 1363 wedding of Margaret I of Denmark to Hakon VI of Norway; the crowning of King Christian III of Denmark; the 1559 crowning of King Frederick II of Denmark; and the May 14, 2004, wedding of Mary Elizabeth Donaldson to Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark.
